When traveling abroad, it’s important to remember that each country has its own driving rules and requirements. To stay compliant, you should always carry an International Driving Permit along with your valid driver’s license. If you’re planning to drive overseas, it’s wise to check the list of international driving permit countries before your trip.

These agreements created a standardized format for IDPs so that member countries could easily accept and understand foreign driving licenses. Today, over 175+ countries recognize ITCA IDPs based on one or both conventions.

In most countries, the printed IDP booklet is recognized as an official supporting document, while digital versions alone may not be accepted.

ITCA IDP is valid in Thailand according to the UN Conventions on Road Traffic 1949 or 1968.

Note: Always carry the printed ITCA IDP booklet along with your valid national driving license. If you have applied for soft copy, make sure to print it (printing instructions will be sent on email after completing the application).

ITCA IDP is valid in Germany and recognized by UN Convention On Road Traffic 1949 & 1968.

However, acceptance of the IDP may vary for agencies so we recommend double-checking with your specific rental agency before you apply. Some rental agencies may prefer an IDP issued by specific authorities.

ITCA IDP is accepted throughout Vietnam (1968 format only). To help us issue the correct version for you, please ensure you enter ‘Vietnam’ as your destination country when filling out the application.
